Green Goddess Smoothie

Green Goddess Smoothie

The idea of drinking a smoothie, let alone a green one for breakfast would have been something I’d have joked about a few years ago. Honestly, I would have looked at a green smoothie and probably gagged! A chocolate smoothie, well that I could handle. It’s amazing the pre-conception you can have of something, i really thought anything green would taste, well just green. I am here to confirm that while yes it definitely does taste a little green it is absolutely delicious, fresh and so energising! Being a dancer, I’m often on the go all day, and often just take quick quinoa, sweet potato salad to fuel up in-betweens training sessions – so this green smoothie is also just the most fantastic way of getting my greens in early on.

For my goodness packed green smoothie, I first juice cucumber and a couple of apples. I then blend it with a couple of handfuls of kale, spinach, celery stalks, frozen banana and a little avocado. Plus whatever superfoods I’ve got stocked up in the cupboard; I love it with a tablespoon of almond butter for a protein kick! I know what you may be thinking “Avocado, banana, kale, spinach… together… really!?” Yes really! Avocado, in particular, is always deemed a pretty bizarre ingredient for a smoothie, but trust me, avocado turns what could be a pretty plain smoothie into a thick, creamy, satisfying treat. Even if your not a huge fan of the little green guys (crazy people) you would never even know, a sneaky way to pack in tons of natures goodness!
